Germany promises €49 million for the ECOWAS countries’ economies, health, and peace.

By pledging €49 million to assist the regional bloc in bolstering peace, security, economic growth, and healthcare systems throughout West Africa, Germany has reinforced its long-standing collaboration with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The renewed funding pledge comes after a fruitful two-day bilateral development cooperation negotiation that took place on November 4–5, 2025, at the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.
The talks centered on strengthening cooperation in important domains, such as sustainable economic growth, institutional capacity building, and good governance.

Both sides claim that the additional cash will strengthen ECOWAS’s ability to foster regional stability and resilience in the face of changing political and socioeconomic obstacles.
The collaboration demonstrates a common dedication to promoting regional integration and raising the standard of living for West African inhabitants.
Germany continues to be one of ECOWAS’s most dependable partners, according to the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja, having backed numerous initiatives over the years in the areas of crisis prevention, health interventions, and governance reform.
