Poverty is not humility, Kenyan singer Bahati to critics

Kenyan musician Bahati has clapped back at his critics who have constantly described him as arrogant over the flaunting of his wealth on social media.

According to him, these people have mistaken humility for poverty, causing them to judge him. He maintains that he has tasted poverty and has the freedom to showcase his success.

He wrote, “There are people who have been mistaking humility for poverty. When I show that I am poor and pushed to the corner, to them, that is humility. But there is something called favour, and it is unfair.”

The singer insisted that he has every right to enjoy and display his blessings,

He went on to add that If I was a hater, I would switch teams because the Bahatis are like water. Usipotukunywa, utatuoga. Get used to us.

After addressing his critics, he came to the defense of female singer Diana Matua, who recently faced backlash after she released her new song.

He urged artists to collaborate with her instead of throwing shade, boldly describing Diana as one of Kenya’s fastest-rising female stars.

“Insults won’t stop her success,” he intimated
