Superstar afrobeats singer Mr Eazi has become the first African musician to have a record with the queen of rap music Nicki Minaj, titled ‘Oh My Gawd’.
The Nigerian-born Banku Music proponent teamed up with Jamaican-American electronic dance music trio, which includes record producer Diplo, and DJs Walshy Fire and Ape Drums. International dancehall musician K4mo was also on the song.
Mr Eazi ina presser said “this record was really fun to make. And it’s crazy how it went from hearing a K4mo intro in the studio with Fred Again, to me jumping on it and then Diplo hopping in! And Walshy hitting me up to say it’s a banger—next thing Nicki is on it! Been a journey really, like two years in the making and I can’t wait to perform it at my next festival!”
The ‘I Surrender’ singer recently featured American rap titan Tyga.
Mr Eazi is undoubtedly taken the afrobeats genre to the next level with Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and others making an impact in the same field.
