A banana seller at Koforidua, in the Eastern Region of Ghana has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The woman’s samples were taken during a mass testing exercise by a team from the Ghana Health Service at the Koforidua Police Training School.
Yesterday, Ghanaian online news portal starrfm.com.gh reported that a Police Officer died of coronavirus in the region.
The cause of death was not immediately known until sample results released after his death reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
Reports reaching Starr News indicated that the woman also sells fruits to staff at the Koforidua High Court as well as the GNAT office.
Starr News Eastern regional correspondent Nana Kojo Ansah reported that “last week a team from the Ghana Health Service came to the Koforidua police training school to conduct mass testing for the recruits as well as staff and occupants of bungalows at the facility.”
He went on “so these food vendors who operate at the school were also tested so the result came in and this banana seller tested positive. Actually, she does not only sell at the police training school, but she also sells to workers at the Koforidua High Court, GNAT office, etc.”
Meanwhile, the medical team have taken samples of people believe to have come into contact with the case, and have begun contact tracing.
